SPICE up your teaching: enriching science teaching in Western Australia
SPICE was a professional learning program designed for secondary science teachers. Participating teachers in the program produced teaching and learning resources in collaboration with scientists and experts in multimedia and curriculum design.
SPICE was a partnership between the Western Australian Department for Education and Training (DET) and The University of Western Australia (UWA). SPICE commenced in 2006 and closed in 2017.
Teachers who connected with SPICE and those who have had the opportunity to use the resources vouch for its success. SPICE stimulated enthusiasm for science and science teaching and built teacher knowledge and understanding of current science and associated investigative skills in their specialist area.
SPICE resources are freely available to all teachers. The WA Department of Education provides them through the Connect portal and STAWA is privileged to be able to share them through our site.
