PRIMARY SCIENCE CONFERENCE 2010

Venue: Edith Cowan University, Mt Lawley Campus

Background:
Purpose:
This year marks the 30th Primary Science Conference, which will continue to provide a relaxed and encouraging forum for primary science educators to: exchange ideas; share resources, techniques and professional experiences. This year also marks a departure from the usual organisational structure of the conference.
Conference organisation:
Previous conferences have been residential with all participants staying overnight in accommodation organised as part of the total program. This year, participants who wish to stay overnight, will need to organise this for themselves and at a separate costing from the registration fee. Should you wish to stay overnight the Primary Science Committee, with the support of Edith Cowan University, can offer special deals with certain hotels.
Although we hope you will be able to attend the full conference, participants can choose to attend on both the Saturday and Sunday or they may elect to attend on just one of the days. Details of separate costs are provided below.

The theme for the 2010 STAWA Primary Science Conference is Celebrating (Bio)Diversity in Science. The weekend will begin with a Keynote Address by Professor William Stock (School of Natural Sciences – ECU) to reflect the theme of the weekend. There will be three workshop sessions on Saturday. On Sunday, there will be a welcome for new participants followed by two workshop sessions and a plenary session for all participants that will conclude the program before lunch. Workshop sessions include workshops aimed at various levels. They also provide different topics from which you can choose. The whole weekend is run to a carefully planned timetable with appropriate breaks for informal discussions and social activities. The weather is usually warm with cool evenings and casual comfortable clothing is the norm throughout the weekend.
